Weather in Bolivia
Bolivia is divided into two very contrasting physical regions which have very different weather & climate. Andes & Andean plateau experience an extreme type of tropical highland climate. Annual precipitation is low & most of it falls between Dec & Mar. There is little variation in annual temperature although there are significant differences between day & night temperatures due to high elevation. The lowlands which comprise more than half of the country have an equatorial climate. Temperatures are warm to hot throughout the year with a single rainy season from October to march averaging 1000 - 1500mm of rainfall.
CLOTHING: warm clothing for winter at high altitude is essential. Medium weight with over-coat for the altiplano and tropical to light for the lowlands. Rainwear important during rainy season. Acclimatization is necessary in high elevations.
